Case Study
Fall 2021. Student A came to us scoring well below average. A 504 plan had been developed and in place for several years, but progress was slow. We met with parents and administration, offering a new take. We’d begin developing the student’s autonomy through our language paired with the already existing accommodations.
As with any learning curve, it was messy at first. Reframing the role the student played was uncomfortable. We were breaking the pattern of dependency. As you can see from the scores, as the student began to take ownership, the scores soared.
This student not only was at grade level, they were ABOVE grade level expectations. That’s the power when they are learning - for themselves.
